As I was looking into the symbolism of trees, and ways of communicating ideas by using nature I came across Matt Collishaw’s work Albion (an installation based on a rotating image of an oak that was produced as a result of laser scanning). Firstly I found it interesting that the artist established the connection between himself and the subject through choosing the tree that grew in the area where he grew as a child, which personally I see as turning it into a self-portrait.
