Plan 1
Renewed plan
Due to technical issues, I have thought through the project and all its elements again. It dawned on me that my initial idea was quite chaotic and overfilled with not that necessary elements.
First and foremost I felt a pressing need to use either sensors or pressing pads, but in reality, the uncontrollable motion can create an alarming sense of unpredictability, can be quite disturbing. So I decided to use just the moving images in regards to the “eyes”. Furthermore, it implied that the “path” was not a necessity anymore, thus a more free way of exploring the space became appropriate.
Secondly, in order to immerse the audience into the atmosphere of a surreal forest strange to them, I planned on using real tree branches, either just scattering them on the floor or attaching them to the ceiling. After trying to achieve it with 17 tree branches that I picked in Northwick Park, It became evident that this was not useful as the space was too dark for branches to have any effect, alongside the fact that 17 of them were definitely not enough to add up to the atmosphere and I did not feel comfortable with cutting down 17 more branches as I felt It was not fitting in with my approach and the project itself.
Thirdly, I ruled out smoke machines as they made projections (which are paramount) too blurry.
Moreover, I decided to abandon the idea of using wind machines as after working on the sound I came to the conclusion that alternation between cold sounds that incorporate both artificial and natural as well as pauses would be more effective for this installation.
Instead of printed images on the walls, I turned to projection as apart from the fact that large (wall size) prints were too expensive, they also lacked movement (that I was advised to explore and infuse my work with during one of the tutorials).
