Developing “tree” concept

My first thought was to take quite a literal to a certain extent approach in regards to visuals. Despite trying to add some characteristics that are unconventional for our natural surroundings such as changing colour scheme, combining kinds of trees that naturally do not grow together, it still felt to familiar and something that can be easily encountered. With an eye to achieving a shift from that too real environment, I decided to try to play around with images in a way that would disorientate viewer.

As I was also playing with eye imagery, where I gave space like aura to them, I tried to develop something far from conventional Earth environment in a way that might balance the atmosphere created with the “eyes”.

I used photos of plants and trees that I took in Kew Gardens and when just walking around.

In these four images I wanted to achieve some sort of meditative state by using the same images with varying colours as I wanted to create some sort of rhythm through those alternations.

In the next five images, I was exploring how the combination of 2 same photos can interact differently over and over again. I used the first image in these set of five as a first layer combining it the same image of a tree and just editing differently with an eye to create multiple moods.
