Tree projections

The feeling I strive to achieve in this installation is the state of being alienated and just being uncomfortable. As my concept stems from the situation when one is not welcome or does not feel they fit in or they just feel as they do not belong, I decided to create an experience of a space that might seem familiar, but at the same time unrelatable.

As a result of having my tutorials, I came to the conclusion that mixing natural and unnatural might be the most effective way to achieve my goal.

During one of the tutorials, I was introduced to Mariko Mori’s art. Looking at her work where she incredibly balances between her cultural heritage and futuristic views, exploring spirituality that is comprised of the spiritualism of Buddhism and the animist religion of Shintoism, connecting the “old” beliefs in Earth, nature and the stars. Her interest in balancing the artificial and nature inspired me to seek subtle ways of achieving that alienation, instead of striking dissonance between environments included.

I was also introduced to an extremely captivating work “Eternalism” by Amnon Owed

“Eternalism is a philosophical view on reality that proposes time is just another dimension. As opposed to the view of the world as a three-dimensional space modulated by the passage of time. An interesting facet of eternalism is that it implies future events are “already there” and as such that there is no objective flow of time..”

The fact that the end was already there when the beginning just started and all the elements seem to gradually evolve one from another, gave me an idea about perceiving artwork: it is not always about the initial idea or philosophy it portrays, sometimes the meaning is literally within the artwork.
