Culture is comprised of infinite number of units. It is also extremely unique and personal to oneself world of cultures being interconnected “The form of space – time in which we live, move and have our experience, is itself shaped by the way in which we live, move and have our experiential being, and this our mode of living is called culture in all its historical depths and regional riches.” Consequently, culture is what developed over period of time, thus history is key in creating it. Culture is a personal place, complex, space where your own experiences coexist and interfere. This concept explores where personal place exists in that world of interconnected constantly interfering cultures. The underlying idea is that the point of balance is from where we can observe everything around and actually identify our own space. .. Being mixed (my mother is Belarusian, my father’s ancestors are Mongolian), having Slavonic and Asian background, being brought up in an international environment thanks to my parents sending me to international camps, language schools in England , thus growing up with French, Italian, Spanish, German, Chinese, Korean, Singaporean peers and the list goes on and on ,affected me, as I was soaking traditions and habits of other cultures, I found myself not fitting into any and feeling lost. As I was mulling over my persona being lost in this world, I came to the conclusion that culture is not necessary identified by the place you live in but by everything you encounter and take in as this is what shapes oneself. Due to the uniqueness misunderstandings are unavoidable, alongside just simple disapproval, as many do not expect everyone else to differ and at times they are not willing to deal with that.
Being frowned upon is part of one’s experience, thus integral to one’s personal space, affecting the way they place themselves in the world. Time is a key factor, owing to the fact that over time that disapproval builds up, getting more and more intense, having a strong impact on mental health, socialising and generally reflecting on the opportunities one has in the society as if commonly unaccepted. Subsequently, one’s life, their history is in a way molded by those reactions.
The idea of a life path can be shown via a line on the floor, supposedly very irregular at times thin, so that viewers will be uncomfortable walking on it (prior they will be asked to follow the “path” as well as they will be allowed to enter the room one by one), will not be able to fit their feet into it, thus that feeling of being odd, not fitting in will be created.
As a person stands on the floor at certain points it will trigger the sensors that will activate the first pair of hemispheres/eyes (made by vacuum foaming, using a clay form).
as a person approaches the middle of the path, another pair of eyes is being activated, kinetic sensors attached so that eyes can track movement, at the very end of the installation there is the last pair of eyes that is lit up by the sensor on the floor.
The surroundings should be decorated with trees
“Psychoanalysis sees in the tree a symbolic reference to the mother, to spiritual and intellectual development, or to death and rebirth.” It also notes that the fruit, shade, and protective nature of trees have caused them to be seen as feminine or maternal symbols.”
‘…A tree is one of the best examples of a motif that often appears in dreams (and elsewhere) and that can have an incredible variety of meanings. It might symbolise evolution, physical growth, or psychological maturation; death (Christ’s crucifixion on the tree); it might be a phallic symbol; it might be a great deal more. And such other common dream motifs as the cross or the lingam can also have a vast array of symbolic meanings…’ – Man and his Symbols by Carl Jung

In folk religion and folklore, trees are often said to be the homes of tree spirits. Historical Druidism as well as Germanic paganism appear to have involved cultic practice in sacred groves, especially the oak. The most ancient cross-cultural symbolic representation of the universes construction is the world tree.
